This
lecture is going to be relevant to most dentists -
When it comes to
direct composite resin dentistry, we are fortunate to practice in an era where we are literally spoiled for choice with the
different types of composites available on the market today. We have monoshade and highly aesthetic composites, packable and
flowable composites, microfill, microhybrid and nanofill composites, and even universal composites. However, whilst each of these
materials brings with it some unique features, each composite also has different handling properties that require different
placement, finishing and polishing techniques.

This program
will feature clinical cases and videos to address the variations in handling properties that clinicians experience with the
different types of composite resins, and techniques to better manage each of these categories of composite will be demonstrated.
Procedures for the finishing and polishing of composites are also demonstrated to show how to achieve the best results and eliminate
the dreaded white line around the restoration margins.
Dr. Mandikos received his Bachelor of Dental Science Degree with honours, from the University of Queensland. He completed a three-year residency program at the State University of New York at Buffalo, (USA) graduating with a Certificate in Prosthodontics and Masters Degree in Biomaterials in 1998. He has researched direct and indirect composite resins and he has published several papers in Australian and international journals on clinical and dental materials topics. Dr. Mandikos has presented continuing education programs at Dental meetings throughout Australia and Southeast Asia and he is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Dr. Mandikos is a Visiting Specialist Prosthodontist to the University of Queensland Dental School and the Royal Australian Air Force. He is a reviewer for the Australian Dental Journal, Quintessence International and Clinica (International Journal of Brazilian Dentistry). Dr. Mandikos is a product evaluator for several dental companies and he maintains a private practice limited to implant and Restorative Dentistry in Brisbane City.
